The European Centre of Byzantine and Post Byzantine Monuments (EKBMM), within the framework of the operational programme “Information Society”, (Measure 1.3) and the project “Anna Komnene: Creation and promotion of multilingual electronic publications and creation of an information network for the monuments of the Byzantine era”, implemented a multilingual electronic publication and information network for the documentation and promotion of monuments dating back to the Byzantine world.
For interested researchers and the general public, the internet gateway presents a pilot collection of significant monuments from Greece and abroad, from all the Byzantine eras. The information network provides the possibility to select and tour general presentations of the monuments in three languages (Greek, English and French) by using texts, pictures and drawings. At the same time it encourages visitors to make complex searches using multiple criteria depending on their interests and objectives. In addition, it highlights EKBMM’s thesaurus and allows visitors to access the Centre’s database, as well as network members to exchange views and scientific articles within the framework of a special communication system which was developed for this purpose.
